Mushrooms and plants

I began creating ceramic mushrooms as a way to make use of leftover clay from my studio practice. Small amounts of different clay bodies were given a new life as artworks with their own character and purpose. At the same time, I wanted to introduce something playful and unexpected among plants, which led to the idea of ceramic mushrooms as small details that bring life and personality to a space.
Although mushrooms were the starting point, I am not limited to depicting existing species or natural forms. I am also interested in creating imaginative plants and organic forms that exist somewhere between nature and fantasy. My work draws inspiration from forests, plants, and natural structures, but it does not aim to represent any particular species. Instead, the pieces explore form, surface, colour, and atmosphere, inviting viewers to create their own interpretations and associations.
Aloin tehdä keraamisia sieniä halusta hyödyntää työskentelystä yli jääneitä savia. Pienet määrät erilaisia saveja saivat uuden elämän teoksina, joilla on oma ilme ja tarkoitus. Samalla kaipasin kasvien joukkoon jotain leikkisää ja yllättävää, mistä syntyi ajatus keraamisista sienistä pieninä, tilaa elävöittävinä yksityiskohtina.
Vaikka sienet olivat lähtökohta, en rajoitu kuvaamaan olemassa olevia lajeja tai luonnonmuotoja. Olen kiinnostunut luomaan myös mielikuvituksellisia kasveja ja orgaanisia muotoja, jotka sijoittuvat luonnon ja mielikuvituksen rajapintaan. Teokseni saavat inspiraationsa metsistä, kasveista ja luonnon rakenteista, mutta ne eivät pyri esittämään mitään tiettyä lajia. Sen sijaan ne tutkivat muotoa, pintaa, väriä ja tunnelmaa sekä herättävät katsojassa omia mielikuvia ja tulkintoja.
